On May 15, 2014, General Motors (GM) issued a recall for 2.7 million vehicles, adding to a total of 11.2 million vehicles recalled in the U.S. this year. The recent recalled vehicles include: the 2004-2014 Malibu, 2014-2015 Silverado and Sierra pickup trucks and 2005-2007 C6 Corvettes to name a few.
The new recall includes safety problems in vehicles brakes, lights and wipers. To see the complete list of recalls visit, GM Authority.
Although the safety problems may seem minor compared to the earlier recall of the Chevrolet Cobalt’s faulty ignition switch, they can potentially lead to serious injuries. The largest recall among the group is a taillight problem involving the 2004-2012 Chevrolet Malibu, 2004-2007 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx, 2005-2010 Pontiac G6 and 2007-2010 Saturn Aura. Corrosion in the faulty brake light can disable cruise control, traction control, electronic stability control and panic braking assist feature.
This has been a difficult year for GM. Thirteen deaths were linked to a faulty ignition switch on the Chevrolet Cobalt and similar vehicles early this year.
If you or a loved were injured in an accident due to a vehicles defect, you may have claim. Contact an experienced attorney to see what options and compensation may be available to you.
