Why are fatal traffic crashes on the rise in Pennsylvania?

The commercial trucking industry is subject to various regulations, such as driver hours-of-service limits, maintenance and inspection requirements, and training. Despite such proactive safety efforts, however, a recent study from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is sobering.

The preliminary NHTSA data indicates that fatalities from truck accidents in Pennsylvania and across the country are collectively up by four percent from the previous year. That gives 2015 the dubious distinction of being the deadliest year since 2008.
