Police arrest man in hit-and-run death of Penn Hills man

Accidents in the Pittsburgh area that occur in the early morning hours often involve may tend to involve drivers who have been drinking. A fatal hit-and-run that took place recently in Leetsdale may have been one of those occurrences. A man was arrested on charges including drunk driving after the fatal accident, which took place between midnight and 3 a.m. earlier this week.

Police who responded to the scene found the victim lying next to his car along the side of the road. Witnesses gave them a description of the vehicle that allegedly hit the man; based on that information, they located a suspect in a nearby community and arrested him.

Hit-and-run accidents are devastating for several reasons. For one thing, they are obviously awful for family members of a victim who has been injured or killed. The police are faced with a difficult task as well, particularly if there are no witnesses to a crash. It can take a large amount of time and money to track down a driver who has fled an accident scene.
