The motorcyclist was flown to York Hospital after the accident due to his serious injuries. As of Wednesday morning, the man is still in critical condition according to a spokesperson for the hospital.
The accident occurred when a vehicle attempted to make a left turn from Duffield Road onto Olde Pine Drive. When turning, the vehicle crossed the path of the motorcycle who was traveling west on Duffield Road. The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries according to police.
It is important for motorists to understand that motorcycles are unable to brake as quickly as an automobile can. They need extra time to react in these situations. This makes it extremely dangerous when vehicles cross the path of a motorcycle. Motorcyclists must maneuver through traffic and respond to road and weather conditions differently than other drivers.
