The first accident occurred after a motorcycle clipped a tanker truck. The passenger on the motorcycle was thrown from the bike and onto the road. A camper swerved to avoid hitting the woman on the road and was then rear-ended by a car. That car became wedged underneath the camper and caught on fire.
The passenger in the camper was a physician who immediately ran to assist the motorcycle passenger who was lying on the road. Fortunately, another physician and several local rescue workers were traveling behind when the crash occurred. They all rushed to the scene and were immediately helping the victims. Several truckers also came to the scene to assist in putting out the car fire. They also lifted up the camper to remove the weight from the victim who was trapped inside.
The motorcycle passenger and the driver of the car were both transported to nearby hospitals by helicopter. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
An accident such as this can happen in an instant. That is why it is so important to always be an alert driver. Seconds can make a difference between avoiding an accident and being involved in one.
