Three People Dead after a Head-On Collision in Indiana County

The driver of an SUV crossed the double yellow lines as she was coming around a right-hand curve. The SUV struck another SUV traveling in the westbound lane head-on.

Both vehicles sustained major front-end damage.

The driver of the first vehicle, who crossed the center lines, was flown to Forbes Regional Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries. The passenger in that vehicle sustained major injuries in the accident. No word on her recovery has been released yet.

In the other vehicle, the driver and passenger, who was in the back seat, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

An investigation is being conducted to determine the cause of the accident and to see if there were any other factors that led the SUV to cross the center lines.

Head-on collisions are among the most deadly types of accidents. This type of collision can cause individuals to sustain major and sometimes fatal injuries.
