Paramedic struck and killed at accident scene

The Cambria County Coroner says the paramedic was killed after she was struck by a coal truck. The truck then crashed as it headed towards the scene of the other accidents. The crash occurred on Route 271 in Upper Yoder Township.

There were reports of at least three other accidents on that road due to the icy conditions. A Jeep had lost control on the ice and was then rear-ended by a FedEx truck. Soon after another vehicle tried to avoid the accident and slid into a utility pole. That pole then crashed down onto the FedEx truck. No charges have been filed at this time. A state police accident reconstructionist was called to investigate the scene.

In a previous blog post, we spoke about how accident reconstructionists are working toward implementing new safety features to avoid crashes. Their job is to reconstruct an accident scene and determine if there were any flaws in safety features on the road that could have caused the accidents. If you would like to read more about that post, visit our blog here.

Icy conditions have caused many accidents in the area this winter. They have caused many slip and fall accidents as well. If you or a loved one were injured in accident, contact the attorneys at Berger and Green for a free no obligation consultation.
