A Head-On Collision in North Huntingdon Leaves Four Dead.

A Head-On Collision in North Huntingdon Leaves Four Dead.

Fatal Head-On Collision in Westmorland County.

News

On Sunday February 14th, a violent head-on collision occurred in North Huntingdon, leaving four dead and one seriously injured. The accident occurred on Route 30 near Carpenter Lane.

According to North Huntingdon police, a vehicle in the westbound lanes crossed over the center yellow line and struck a vehicle head-on in the eastbound lanes.

The vehicle that was struck was occupied by three women. One was pronounced dead at the scene while the other two were transported to Forbes Hospital.  They later died due to the extent of their injuries.

A passenger in the other vehicle also died at the scene.  The driver was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

It has not been confirmed, however, most head-on collisions result from distracted driving. Distracted driving is not only illegal it is deadly. Texting is the biggest form of distracted driving we see today and sadly, innocent lives are being lost because of it.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), estimates that 660,000 drivers use an electronic device behind the wheel each day during daytime hours.

The NHTSA urges drivers to turn off all electronics and put them out of reach before heading out onto the road.  If you are a passenger and your driver is texting while driving, speak up and encourage them to pull over.  Also, always wear your seat belt.  Seat belts can help protect you in accidents caused by distracted drivers on the road.

Do your part by avoiding distractions in the vehicle and never text and drive.

Pursuing a claim after losing a loved one will never fill the void left by a loved one’s passing away. It is not a matter of profiting for the family left behind, but rather recovering.  The recovery of damages can alleviate the unexpected funeral costs and expenses accrued when a loved one passes.
