Seven Car Pileup Leaves One Dead in Salem Township

The accident happened yesterday afternoon along Route 22 near the Lamplighter restaurant. Police said a pickup truck entered the intersection of Mark Drive when it was then t-boned by the tractor-trailer. First reports believe the tractor-trailer may have run the red light. The pickup truck was pushed nearly 120 feet up the road.

After the initial impact, a second pickup truck was struck by the tractor-trailer. Then, when the tractor trailer jack-knifed, four other vehicles were struck.

It took 55 minutes for first responders to get the man who was initially t-boned by the tractor-trailer out of his vehicle. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died due to the extent of his injuries.

Two other victims were taken to local hospitals as well for treatment. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

If the tractor-trailer driver is found at fault, they could face serious criminal charges. The family of the victim may file a civil wrongful death claim.

Filing a claim after losing a loved one will never fill the void that is left. It is not a matter of profiting for the family left behind, but rather recovering. The recovery made can alleviate the unexpected funeral costs and expenses accrued when a loved one passes.
