Settlement of Pittsburgh sunbather’s lawsuit may be near

The woman said she suffered dislocated bones, lacerations and bruises in the incident. She also claimed to experience post-traumatic stress disorder due to the incident.

Shortly after the accident the woman filed a lawsuit against both the city as well as the pool life guard who was a city employee. In her lawsuit she sought damages in the amount of $50,000. Recently it was announced that the city is considering trying to settle the case for $20,000.

To accomplish this, a bill approving this amount was introduced by the City Council. The bill will be voted on in a couple of weeks. It is unclear whether the bill is expected to be passed.

Personal injury lawsuits such as this one are designed to provide a way for people who are hurt due to negligent actions on the part of others to seek compensation. For the best result in cases such as these it is important that the injured individual take action in a timely manner as the woman in this case did. Doing so usually makes it possible to gather information needed to build a strong case.
