A fast-moving snow squall is being blamed for a series of crashes Friday on Interstate 79 that closed a portion of the interstate for hours.

As many as twenty vehicles were involved in multiple accidents on Friday in Butler County on I-79 due to a snow squall moving through the area.  The accidents caused the interstate to shut down for several hours.

As many as twenty vehicles were involved in multiple accidents this past Friday due to a snow squall that caused whiteout conditions. There were also many non-reportable accidents as well as disabled vehicles along Interstate 79. The accidents caused the interstate to be shut down for several hours so vehicles could be removed and repaired on the scene.  At this time, police have reported at least two people were sent to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
