Sadly, earlier this month a man working along a state road installing guide rails, was killed when a vehicle backed over him causing him to be trapped. The 43-year-old suffered blunt force trauma of the trunk and neck and was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle that struck him was a company vehicle.
Though the incident has been ruled an accident it highlights just how dangerous vehicles can be to pedestrians who are around them. The size and weight difference between the two objects contributes to the devastation a vehicle can do to a human body. So too does the lack of protection the average pedestrian has compared to what is afforded those inside a vehicle.
Anytime a pedestrian is hurt or killed after being struck by a vehicle there is the chance that a lawsuit could be viable. A personal injury lawyer can help determine if this is the case.
