At Berger and Green, our office remains open. Our attorneys and legal assistants are working remotely and continue to monitor the status of your case. Due to specific closures within the Social Security Administration there are some changes we would like you to be aware of.
Despite this difficult environment, the Social Security Office of Hearing Operations is continuing to have disability hearings by phone. In-person hearings have been discontinued for the safety of all parties.
The attorneys at Berger and Green are up to the challenge. We are conducting phone hearings with the Administrative Law Judges who are offering this type of hearing.
Telephone hearing availability varies by Judge. Telephone hearings are occurring on or near the date that the hearing is currently scheduled for. We cannot speed up this process.
We are discussing this option with each client who has a hearing scheduled and a phone hearing is an option. The decision to have a telephone hearing is made if our client wants to have one. If our client wants to have a telephone hearing we will proceed. Unfortunately, the only other option is to postpone the hearing.
A telephone hearing consists of the Administrative Law Judge, a Berger and Green attorney, and client on the same call. Your attorney will prepare you for what to expect during your hearing.
We do not know how long the Social Security Office of Hearing Operations will require that hearings be conducted by telephone. We do know that our attorneys are prepared.
If you are a client, rest assured that we continue to work on your case.
