Born in Detroit in 1950, Attorney Michael W. Zimecki graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in 1972, obtained a Masters Degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 1973, and continued with post-graduate work. He obtained a Juris Doctorate in 1994 from Duquesne University School of Law. He is licensed to practice in all Pennsylvania state courts and in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Before beginning his legal career, Attorney Zimecki taught English at the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Alabama. He also worked in public relations at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
He began his legal career as a law clerk for the President Judge in the Court of Common Pleas of Lawrence County. Thereafter, he joined law firms concentrating in Personal Injury law, civil litigation, and workers' compensation. He joined Berger and Green to continue his career representing injured accident victims in Personal Injury claims as a Pennsylvania Personal Injury attorney.
He has written about law and medicine for Harper's Magazine, the National Law Journal, and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Several of these articles have been reprinted in anthologies. He is also a playwright and one of his plays was produced by the Pittsburgh New Works Festival.
Attorney Zimecki is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), where he served on the Civil Human Rights Committee, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association, where he served on the Health Law Committee and the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the Pennsylvania Association for Justice (PaAJ), the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association (WPTLA), the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA), and the National Organization of Veterans' Advocates, Inc. (NOVA). Attorney Zimecki prides himself on his ability to communicate clearly concerning legal issues.
