Bus carrying Italian tourists collides with truck in Pennsylvania

The accident occurred around 10 a.m. on Interstate 380 in the Pocono Mountain area. The bus was coming from the New York Metro area, heading towards Niagara Falls.

State police have not confirmed how the accident occurred but believe there was a second tractor-trailer involved.

All three individuals who died in the accident were on the charter bus. One was the driver who a spokesperson for the company said had over 10 years of driving experience.

The collision was so violent that it left the front-end of the charter bus upright and wedged into the side of the sheared tractor-trailer. The cab of the tractor-trailer ended up on its side in the woods next to the road. One of the tractor-trailer’s axels fell off causing the cab to separate from the truck.

Most of the seventeen passengers onboard the charter bus and the driver of the tractor-trailer, were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment of mild injuries. Four however, remain in critical condition.

When large vehicles such as charter buses and tractor-trailers are involved in accidents, the aftermath can be devastating and the injuries can be severe or even deadly.

As the investigation continues, the family members of the victims and also those injured in the accident, may file a claim against the driver at fault. Filing a wrongful death claim or personal injury claim would help alleviate unexpected expenses during this horrific time.
