Toyota Recalls 74,000 Tundra and Sequoia Trucks and SUVs due to Safety Issues

Product Liability

The auto manufacturer, Toyota, has issued a recall on 74,000 trucks and SUVs due to two separate safety issues. The recall involves the 2017 Toyota Tundra and the 2018 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia SUV.

The first recall affects 8,800 2017 Toyota Tundra pickup trucks.  The truck has been recalled due to a possible loose second row seat.  This could cause serious injuries to the occupant in the event of an accident.

The second recall affects 65,000 2018 Tundra and Sequoia SUVs. The recall was issued for a possible defect that could shut off stability control and other mechanical systems.

Toyota plans to fix the vehicles by tightening the bolts in the loose seats of the 2017 Tundra’s and updating the software in the 2018 Tundra and Sequoia SUVs.

Toyota could not comment if there have been any reports of injuries due to either of the recalls.

Recovering compensation after an injury from a defective product

It is a manufacturer’s responsibility to make sure their products are safe for consumers.  If someone is injured due to a defective product, a product liability claim may exist.  A claim may be pursued to pay for damages caused by the defective product such as medical bills, missed time from work and pain and suffering.

If you or someone you know has been seriously injured by a defective product, it is important to contact a personal injury attorney to review your rights.  Call 412-661-1400 to schedule a free consultation with a personal injury lawyer in Pittsburgh at Berger and Green today.
