It’s important not to delay filing an appeal if you have been denied Social Security Disability Benefits. You have sixty days from the time you received your denial to file an appeal. If you do not file an appeal, within that time period, you will have to start all over again. And that can be really frustrating and a time waster. If you file your appeal in a timely manner, you will have someone else looking at your medical records and doing a separate and distinct disability determination.
If you file an appeal to the hearing, in addition to having the Judge reviewing all of your medical documentation,, you will have an opportunity to testify and tell the Judge why it is that you cannot work any more. You’ll talk about your symptoms and your difficulties that you have during a normal day or week and you will have a back and forth conversation with the Judge where you get to explain in some detail what all of your difficulties are.
