A new law has been put into place to help ensure the safety of crews during road work.

The law will now require that speed cameras be installed in all work zones.

If a vehicle is clocked as speeding 11 mph over the work zone limit, the cameras will take a picture of the vehicle’s license plate.  A ticket will then be mailed to the vehicle’s registered owner.

The first offence is a warning, the second is a $75.00 fine and the third is a $150.00 fine.

Signs will be visible in work zones where cameras are being used.

This is a 5-year-plan that will involve PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
